🔑 Permissions explained
When installing, Chrome shows a message:
“This extension can read and change your data on upwork.com”
What this ACTUALLY means
“Read data”:
- ✅ Extension reads proposals, invites, profile stats
- ✅ Used to fill forms and sync to Vollna dashboard
- ❌ Does NOT access passwords, billing, or messages
“Change data”:
- ✅ Extension can fill text fields (cover letters, rates, questions)
- ✅ Used to auto-populate proposal forms when you click “Apply with Vollna”
- ❌ Does NOT submit proposals automatically
- ❌ Does NOT change or write anything in the background
Why Chrome shows this
Chrome uses generic permission descriptions. ANY extension that helps fill forms (like password managers, Grammarly, or shopping tools) shows the same message. It’s standard for productivity extensions.
What other extensions request similar permissions?
- LastPass / 1Password — “Read and change data” (to fill passwords)
- Grammarly — “Read and change data” (to suggest edits)
- Honey — “Read and change data” (to apply coupons)
- and thouthands of other extensions.
Vollna uses permissions the same way — to help you work faster.
